Due to the continuous fouls in the middle of the game, the intense challenge between the two rival teams arises.

After the two teams were calmed down by the coaches and referees, the match got back to its path and continued the game with a better sportsmanship and performance.

Although CAS did full court press, they still failed to supervene the opposing team’s score.

As the announcement was made, CNU – Medellin was seen praying together with their beloved Team Captain.

“Na overwhelmed jud ko kay last year nako ug na ug na complete jud nako ang pila ka years nga puros champion,” said, Serge Pedroza, a 4th year BEED General Education major.

Prior to the game, the team captain highlighted their preparations for the game — hard training, discipline and time management.

When asked about his message to the losing team, this is what he said, “Pwede ra nga mu strive hard gihapon sila next year, dili lang sila mawad-an ug paglaom kay basketball man ni ug usab pwede rami magkauban sa mga lain nga duwa ug hinaot unta nga ang sportsmanship naa ra gihapon”.

The CNU – Medellin team is in their fourth grand champion this year and are hoping to win more in the future games.

CNU – Medellin defeats SCUAA player

     CNU - Medellin campus bags first gold of the chess tournament and edged out of only half point against one of the the last year's players of State Colleges University Athletics Association (SCUAA) at Emma Center this morning.

   CNU - Medellin team defeated all the participating teams including one of the the last year's State Colleges and University Athletics Association (SCUAA) player.
     The team was composed of four members. 
      With their joined scores of each member of the team, CNU-Medellin claimed victory with a final score of 17 1/2-17 points.

  "As a beginner and a player of CNU - Medellin, I'm proud nga nakadaug ko karon adlawa together with my team nga naningkamot sad" said one of the players, Danilo Bertulfo Jr. in an interview.

  "Nangulba najud ko kay grabe kaayo kaduol ang labanan. Unya nag ampo ug salig jud ko sa Ginoo nga iyang ihatag ang focus nako sa kani nga duwa" he added. 

  After the game, CNU - Medellin campus was hailed as the winner of this year's chess competition and brought first record of first gold of the Uniwide Chess tournament. 
  
  "Nagpasalamt jud mi ug dako sa Ginoo kay grabe jud ni nga achievement among nakab-ot and first time in history nga among campus ang champion",said team captain, Anthony Dale Ocaba. 

   However, only two of the four players were qualified to SCUAA competition, based on their ranking and individual scores.

CNU – Medellin proceeds to championship game after defeating main campus powerhouse CTE

Two strong teams from Cebu Normal University heated up the basketball game giving their best performance in dribbling and shooting the precious ball inside the raging court at San Antonio Basketball Court yesterday.

CNU – Medellin and the College of Teacher Education had an intense fight with their short score gaps throughout the entire 3 quarters.

CNU – Medellin who scored the first shots did not let their guards down when the game entered its peak which is the last quarter.

On the other hand, CTE have also gave their opponent a formidable energy, giving consecutive three-shot points.

But, despite of what CTE presented to the rival team, CNU – Medellin still reigned the battleground with a score of 68 which leads them to the championship game tomorrow morning.

Mr. and Ms. CNU Talents Nite: Exposing the Hidden Flair

Confidence is the key to enhance the true beauty of a person. Being confident in everything will bring out the sparkle that an individual is hiding. It allows you to do things and express yourself without second guessing.

In lieu of the CNU Intramural 2019, it was not just about sweat, sports, and physical strength that needs to be showcased. In fact, one’s intelligence and talent will also be tested. Not to mention the annual search for the next Mr. and Ms. CNU where every department has their own representatives who were dedicated enough to grab the crown and be hailed as Mr. and Ms. Cebu Normal University (CNU) 2019.

One of the minor award that they will possibly get is the best in talent and each of the representatives were given their chance to expose their capabilities and conquer the stage before the final judgement day or the so called ‘coronation night’.

The crowd went wild and the venue was filled with ambiance of excitement. Students were ready to lose their voice just to give their loudest cheer to their bet. Everyone was ecstatic as each pair went out in the stage and perform their best talent they could show to the audience.

Each pair prepared for about month, weeks and some were just days. Still, they did their best in showcasing it with full confidence and grace.

After showing the crowd their God-given talents, the board of adjudicators came up with a decision which was guided by the criteria for judging. In no particular order, two pairs from CNU – Balamban were called and one pair from College of Teacher’s Education were hyped up after being mentioned. Meaning, they excelled in the talent’s nite. However, the best pair among the three who stand out tonight will be announced tomorrow during the coronation night.

The event concluded the second day of Cebu Normal University’s Intramural 2019. Truly, it lightened up the faces of the audiences who were soaked up all day under the scorching heat of the sun just to cheer and show support to their personal favorites.

On the other hand, CNU – Balamban grab the two remaining spots for the final top 3 with both ethnic concept.

“Di gyud lalim ang pressure kay duha ra ka adlaw ang amoang practice. Wala jud mi ga expect nga maapil mi sa final top 3,” said one of the candidate of Mr. and Ms. CNU of Balamban campus.

The coronation night for Mr. and Ms. CNU will be held tomorrow together with the awarding of the Best in Talent and there yet the final top 3 were ranked in no particular order.

Basketball Game 2019 jumpstarts

College of Teacher Education and College of Nursing drew the curtain for this year’s basketball game for Cebu Normal University’s Intramurals 2019 held at San Antonio Basketball Court today.

The opening game that was played by the Women’s Category of both colleges drew a lot of attention because of the number of players from the College of Nursing and the unexpected injury of one of their athletes.

CTE who was the defending champion for the past year graces the court as they showed a confident side of them while in the game.

On the other hand, for the past years, it was known that the College of Nursing have only limited athletes who are also unabled to participate in all the sporting categories.

The heat of the game rises when one of the few CN athletes got injured which resulted for the game being interrupted.

But despite of the lack of athletes and slight injuries that happened to the CN players, they have still gave their best effort to fight for their strong competitor.

CAS grabs title from CTE

College of Arts and Sciences are gearing up for the actual competition — RP John Rivas

Cebu Normal University’s College of Arts and Sciences’ swimming team cried as they triumph after defeating the other swimming teams from the four colleges during the second day of CNU’s Intramural 2019.

The audience witnessed how thirsty each of the swimmer is to obtain this year’s title. With the burning spirit, the cheering squad from the different colleges also showed their support to uplift the confidence of their representatives which brought euphonious sound around the pool area of Cebu City Sports Complex, earlier today.

When asked about the edge of their team, CAS’ swimming coach Bryan Alboro replied, “Expose sila daan during their Elementary and High School years. Then ang attitude sad nila sa training nga bisan painful na, mupadayon gyud gihapon sila.” On the other hand, the team also said that they have been practicing since August because the longer the preparation, the more confident you are during the competition.

Each swimmer performed their best and executed the freestyle, back stroke, breast stroke, and butterfly stroke speedily to reach the final point at an early time. After 23 events which was composed of different categories, the jury then announced the first place which was College of Arts and Sciences, followed by the College of Teacher Education, then College of Nursing, and on the last spot, CNU – Medellin.



“Ingon among coach, daghan ang naay potential namo pero kuwang mi ug practice,” said Edzel Rose Caynila, a member of the College of Teacher Education swimming team. To recall, CTE bagged last year’s title but was swiftly seized by CAS this year.

CTE and CNU – Balamban bags gold for Shot Put Competition

College of Teacher Education and CNU – Balamban Campus triumphed over the different colleges for the men and women category with their best attempt of 8.53 and 5.95 meters during the Shot Put competition held at Cebu City Sports Center Oval this morning.

Anthony Yann of College of Teacher Education managed to shot throw the winning shot with 8.53 meters.

Following him was the CNU – Medellin Campus representative, Jestoni Sumabong with 7.83 meters, next was Antonni Clement Rondero from College of Teacher Education with 7.67 meters, College of Arts and Sciences Ramel Paquibot with 7.49 meters, CNU – Balamban Marjon Jaime with 7.11 meters, College of Arts and Sciences Marvin Duhaylungsod with 6.63 meters, CNU – Balamban Rico Arimpujo with 5.69 meters and lastly, College of Teacher Education John Ethelerd Osabel.

With a sixty- second given to release the shot, Anamy Rosario of CNU-Balamban notched a consistent streak with an average of 5.81 meters.

Next to Rosario is her colleague, Claviel Bernido with an attempt of 5.48 meters followed by the College of Arts and Sciences, Kimberly Ybañez with her final throw of 5.25 meters, CNU-Medellin, Janica Gefaruelas with an attempt of 5.08, College of Teacher Education, Esperanza Tejano and Willie Jane Salutillo, with a close fight of 4.74 and 4.64 meters, College of Arts and Sciences, Khyla Llanes with her distance throw of 4.46 meters and CNU-Medellin grabbed the 8th placer, Ed Maureen Batarilan on her shot throw of 3.40 meters.

“Gikulbaan ko ug wala jud ko nagdahum nga ako ang makakuha sa title, since daghan kaayo mi nga nagcompete,” said Rosario. She is proud to bring the name of thier campus for this year’s Intramurals in the Shot Put competition, she added.

Amidst the struggles they have to put up with, CNU-Balamban proved that they were eager to join the different competition while the intensive trainings of College of Teacher Education pursued them to defend their title as the overall champion of last year’s Intramurals.

Dance Palabas sets ablaze Intramurals 2019

After series of intensive trainings, weeks of preparations, and long hours of practices, at last the most awaited moment for the bodily kinesthetic students has finally arrived. This happened during the Dance Palabas showdown among the different campuses and colleges of Cebu Normal University as they formally opened the Intramurals 2019.

The Centennial stage seemed like a sea of colors because of this year’s theme which is the four elements, namely: water, air, earth, and fire. Each group never failed to showcase their brilliant ideas in coming up with such wonderful concepts that left the audience a “wow” reaction.

Jaw dropping, inspiring, breath-taking, you can easily choose any of these adjectives since each group performed so well just like any professional dancers. The venue was filled with loud cheers brought by the crowd as if they were trying to grab the perfect score of the audience impact from the given criteria. Everyone witnessed the eagerness showed by each group to bag this year’s title which will surely bring spice to their victory.

The dancers moved their body like there’s no tomorrow. They danced with full grace and passion to tell a story to the audience and the judges. Every department screamed at the top of their lungs to show everyone that their screams were the weapon and shield of the representatives.

The 2019 Intramurals’ theme is “Breaking barriers and achieving excellence through sports.” Amidst the thought that they were gathered to compete, each team still showed sportsmanship even before the battle began which obviously states that they were also open to the possible learnings that this event would contribute to them as an individual and as a team. It clearly shows that despite representing different campuses and departments to grab the prestigious award, each team is still united in the end.

Unity is the most important value that everyone must bring within. Win or lose, the important thing is to bring out the best in oneself and to have fun.

This year’s champion was the College of Teacher Education, followed by the College of Arts and Sciences, while the third placer was the College of Nursing, next is the Cebu Normal University Medellin Campus and lastly was the Cebu Normal University Balamban Campus.

CNU Intramurals 2019: Parade of Color

Cebu Normal University opened this year’s Intramurals with a festive opening parade beside Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas raising their respective colors from the different colleges.

College of Teacher Education dominated the parade with the color blue, College of Arts and Sciences cheered for the color red, College of Nursing with the color green, while the CNU – Balamban campus wore the color yellow and the CNU – Medellin represented the color white.

Students and athletes of Cebu Normal University together with CNU Balamban and CNU Medellin were geared up for the Opening Parade of the Intramurals 2019.

“We have one week of preparations prior to this event, so the athletes were excused in their classes,” said CNU – Medellin Volleybal Men coach, Crysler Cabusa.

Moreover, he also added that they also struggled in bringing their water reservoir in preparation for the constant water shortage of the school.

On the other hand, one of the coaches of the CNU – Balamban for the Mr. and Ms. CNU have also shared her thoughts about the things they are aiming for this year.

“We are not aiming for the titles, but we are aiming only for the like, special awards, we are okay for that one, “said Ria Letegio.

Despite the distance and obstacles they have came across, that did not stop them from competing with the other strong colleges. They will not go home wihout giving a good fight.
